We are not a Primary Care office, this is a specialist office, specializing in the treatment of Hematology & Oncology. We do not require you to have a referring physician, but you MUST have a confirmed diagnosis and/or verification of disease in order to schedule an appointment without one.
Treat your first visit as your introduction to the office: you will need a picture ID, insurance card(s), and any referral or medical records provided by your referring physician or previous care physician.
No, we prefer our patients to not be "Hangry" when they come in for their visit. Feel free to eat as you usually would, any special labs requiring fasting or restrictions will be ordered at a later date.
Yes & No. Transitioning into adult care can be scary! Navigating hospitals as an adult is very different than in pediatric care. Where you may be used to immediate service, comprehensive treatment where all of your doctors are in the same place, and more micromanaged care adult hospitals do not offer the same convenience. It's usually longer wait times, lack of understanding of your disease or it's severity, and more accountability on your part to manage your care. Don't be afraid, life is about approaching obstacles and getting past them! With the right care team, family/friend support, and patience you will transition into Adult care with ease. Just remember it's a journey, not a destination!
Our doctor will review your medical records provided by your referring physician, evaluate and start a treatment plan. Any labs, procedures, or special test will be ordered for your next visit.
